Amphibious Service

We have setup a new vessel to assist in gathering 3D information in hard to get at places.

Its an amphibious 6 wheel drive vehicle which as been fitted with extra flotation, an 8 hp outboard motor together with our echo sounding & KGPS equipment. It looks like a rubber duckie on wheels.

It's very useful in areas that don't have normal boat access as it will just drive in over soft or hard ground and start floating in 0.6m of water where the echo sounding equipment will start recording. While driving heights are recorded using the latest Kinermtic GPS.

It is good for measuring the depths of rivers, lakes, reservoirs or dams as well as heights of beaches, foreshores & sand spits.

It's very stable and capable of carrying 2 people & all the equipment on the water as well as the beach.

It's is also very light needing only 2 psi of ground resistance to drive which is less pressure than a human foot, so it can be driven on areas that cannot be walked. It leaves less of a footprint on the beach than I do.

It can be used with both the high & low frequency echo sounder to measure the thickness of mud or weed.

With tracks added the load on the ground is further reduced to only 1 PSI.
